Support Coordinator
Since 1991 Jenny has worked on behalf of people with a disability. Focused on supporting independence and skill development, Jenny believes that a good life is founded on access to quality support and the right of the individual to choose and control their own support services. Jenny’s work roles span across the supported employment sector, community-based specialist disability service provision and fifteen years in government. Jenny has gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience that includes, being involved in establishing a community based employment service for people with a disability in a small rural town, travelling extensively in South West Queensland and southern Downs regions to complete Supported Wage Assessments. She also assisted people with a disability to contribute to their workplace self-assessment and quality assurance processes. In government, Jenny worked in roles that fostered the development of quality support services that were measured against State and Federal person centred and client focused practice standards. Jenny also managed the contracts that detailed funding arrangements between government and the disability sector.
Since the role out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Jenny is once again directly assisting people with a disability to achieve their goals and implement their NDIS Plans. Working as a Support Coordinator specialising in trying to overcome barriers for people with complex needs who are living with intellectual impairment, psycho-social disability, acquired brain injury, physical, vision or hearing impairment or a combination of these, she looks for practical solutions that can make real changes to the lives of the people she engages with. When working with an individual living with a disability Jenny has a strong focus on engaging with the significant people in their life to build a strong network and support structure for them. Jenny makes a strong commitment to a high level of professionalism in all she does and to work hard for the things that matter to each individual she is working with.
