Qualifications: Bachelor of Social Work

Cristyn is currently in a second year graduate position after graduating from Queensland University of Technology in January 2022, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Cristyn is a member of the Australian Association of Social Work, and is working towards being an Accredited Disability Social Worker. Throughout the duration of her degree, she completed a pilot research project in Biggenden. A rural community located in the North Burnett, she completed a report, that was presented to the Chamber of Commerce. The report was two parts the first around disability and accessibility and the second Infrastructure rejuvenation.

Cristyn has worked within the disability sector as a disability support worker in her final two years of university. Cristyn understands the importance of choice and control and ensures this is upheld and valued in practice. Cristyn also strives to empower each individual by working with the person to ensure the needs and goals are met, supported and advocated for. Cristyn values active listening, empathy, ethical and cultural safe practice upholding the clients autonomy, and empowering the client to reach their goals. Cristyn is committed to upholding a strengths based, anti-oppressive and client centred approach to practice. Cristyn has a strong drive to continue working within the disability sector to broaden skills and experiences, and is passionate about creating a difference to other people’s lives.
