During her studies, Caitlin gained experience on placement working with individuals who have cognitive and intellectual disabilities providing one-on-one support work and advocacy, and also has experience in the alcohol and other drug (AOD) sector as a group facilitator and AOD counsellor whereby she supported and worked with clients that had a dual-diagnosis. Throughout these learning opportunities Caitlin developed strong professional and personal motivation to advocate for people’s autonomy and champion for individual’s resilience and capacity by working alongside them to achieve their unique goals.
Caitlin is passionate to continue applying and expanding her educational knowledge into her career, driven by the desire to remain client-centric and uphold her strengths-based approach to practice. Doing so with proven skills in rapport building with complex clients and crisis management.
Caitlin strongly values balance, reflection and mindfulness in her practice. She believes that one approach does not fit all, therefore to provide a breadth of support it is important to remain reflective and critical of own approaches and continue seeking out new learning and knowledge development to expand her practice.
